Roton Consultancies Pty Ltd (trading as Academiquirk) is committed to protecting your privacy.
We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and—where relevant—the EU / UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. About this notice
This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and secure your personal information, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, apps, live-chat, e-mail and any other channel through which you interact with Academiquirk.
2. What we mean by “personal information”
“Personal information” is any information or opinion that identifies (or could reasonably identify) you. Common examples include:
- Name, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number
- University, course and assignment details you choose to share
- Payment-related data (card last four digits, transaction IDs)
- IP address, browser type and device identifiers collected via cookies
“Sensitive information” includes data such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health data or criminal record. We only collect sensitive information with your explicit consent or where required by law.

5. Cookies & tracking technologies
We use Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Meta Pixel to measure performance and tailor content. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work as intended. See our separate Cookie Banner for granular settings.
6. Disclosure — including cross-border transfers
We do not sell your data. We may disclose your information to:
- Editors or support staff bound by confidentiality agreements
- Cloud-hosting providers (e.g. AWS, Dropbox)
- Payment processors and fraud-screening services
- Regulators, courts or law-enforcement when legally required
Because many of our team members and providers are located in Australia, India, the United Kingdom and the United States, your data may be transferred internationally. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards to ensure these locations uphold privacy protections substantially similar to the APPs and GDPR.
7. Data security
We use encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, role-based access controls and regular penetration testing. If a breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme.
8. Data retention & deletion
- Academic files, similarity reports and feedback notes: 180 days (or sooner at your request)
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe
- Financial records: 7 years to satisfy taxation obligations
Data scheduled for deletion is securely destroyed or irreversibly de-identified.
9. Your rights
9.1 Under Australian law
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold. We will respond within 30 days and may ask for ID before releasing data. No access fee applies, but a reasonable administration charge may cover copying or postage.
9.2 Additional EU / UK rights
If you reside in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you also have the right to:
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Object to direct marketing or certain processing activities
- Request data portability in a machine-readable format
- Request erasure (“right to be forgotten”) in specific circumstances
- Complain to a supervisory authority (e.g. OAIC or UK ICO)
10. Children
Our services are intended for tertiary students aged 18 or older. If you are under 18, please obtain parental or guardian consent before providing personal information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this notice to reflect changes in law or our practices. The latest version is always available at academiquirk.com/privacy; significant changes will be flagged on our homepage or via e-mail.

If you believe we have breached the APPs or GDPR, please write to us. We will investigate and respond in writing within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the OAIC or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
